Welcome to February! I am excited about this month!
Class,
We've learned a lot since January. I see many of you really thinking
through your photos. I have watched you move, try different angles, and
perspectives to attain great photos. I was especially impressed with the
presentations of the Emotions project. Many of you are showing tremendous
growth!
The week beginning February 2nd was originally slated for lines and the
alphabet project. However, the weather is not going to enable us to take
advantage of the outdoors for this project. It has been my experience that
this project is best done in a variety of settings, and to truly appreciate
lines, one must also see outside structures. Therefore, I am going to wait
at least one more week. The preliminary weather forecasts have the weather
in the 70s next week, which will be much more amenable to this project.
We are going to move ahead to a project that is designed for indoors. It is
a project that is designed to test your critical thinking skills, and
challenge your artistry! The project is a "How-to" type project that can
take a serious or humorous look at how to do something. More information and
rubric will be given in class. Because part of this activity is copyrighted
by someone other than me, I will refrain from posting it on this blog. Full
credit is given to the originator of the project, and out of ethical respect
for that creator, I will only be providing a hard copy of the project and
rubric.
Parents, if you will contact me for your own copy of the project / rubric, I
will be glad to provide you an additional hard copy.
Here is an outline for this week:
Monday:
Topic One: What is the rule of thirds? Does this mean I have to do
fractions?
Topic Two: Identifying the rule of thirds in photos.
Topic Three: Using editors to create rule of thirds compliant photos.
Topic Four: How - to project introduction and brainstorming session
Tuesday:
Topic One: Rule of thirds reviewed and practiced
Topic Two: Windows movie maker for still photography
Topic Three: Turn in your How-to project plan

How - to project work day
