This week in Research (week beginning Nov.17th)
This week in research will be an active time as we lay the ground work for the next phase of our research projects -- interpreting data.
We will focus on the following:
1. Identifying variables
2. Using spreadsheets to create charts and graphs
3. Begin defining and applying (not memorizing) the following concepts:
a. variables
b. 2-way table
c. 3-way table
d. the role of the researcher in an observational study
e. the role of the researcher in a designed experiment
f. bar graphs and line graphs
g. datasets
h. frequency distribution
i. frequency table
j. histogram
k. relative frequency histogram
l. cumulative frequency distribution
m. relative cumulative frequency distribution
n. mean
o. median
p. mode
q. variance
r. normal curve / bell curve
I suspect that this may sound like a lot to learn, but we will begin taking our first steps through exploring case study data and applying it using the terminology and methodologies above.
Important deadlines:
Friday -- all raw data should be reported on or before this date
