ordinals....ordered...first, second, third.....freshman, sophomore, junior, senior
intervals....equal units of measure that do not have an absolute zero, therefore it doesn't make sense to divide....fahrenheit, celcius, the year 2007
ratio...the interval with a zero as a natural starting point...yardstick, age, weight, account balance
